Rueben's brindle coloring is so Beautiful.
We don't know his history. We picked him up after running for at least 3 days in the 100 degree temperatures. Sadly he wasn't chipped and no one claimed him. He is 65lbs and guessed to be around 2 years old.
He loves other big dogs and is very playful. He seems respectful of the alpha order in my home. But isn't a fan of dogs that come at him angry of course.
He is well-behaved. He is house and crate-trained. He knows to sit for a treat without being told and is very gentle taking the treat. We will not put him in a home with cats or toy-breed dogs, as he has shown he is not good with either. It's fine being around them on a leash, though.
He is a little pushy with the door, so we have been working on learning respect or waiting to go in and out.
He loves to ride in the truck and is happy to jump in to go. He does well on a leash. We walk him with a harness while the other dogs are off-leash. They know their boundaries, and he wants to run further.
He wasn't happy about the bath, but he bathed fairly easy. He is accustomed to lounging on the couch or and getting in the bed to take a nap, but also seems to prefer to stretch out on the floor.
He will snuggle any chance he is given. If you let him, he will climb into your lap and end up with his entire body snuggled on top of you.
He likes to play fetch. He is very playful. He is a dog that is going to need a good energy outlet, but has a nice energy level. Wants to play hard at play time and nap at nap time.
For bed time he does good being left loose in the house, in your bed, or in the crate. I do not want a home that is going to crate him for bed and during work hours. He would do fine, but there is no reason to crate him that much.
Who wouldn't want a young, playful dog that is already trained!?
*Reuben has loved everyone and even went to adoption events and did wonderful. Now that he has been in his foster home for a bit, he doesn't like certain people coming in "his home."
We need to find him an appropriate home. We would prefer a privacy fenced yard or at least a fence taller than 4ft and adopters that are responsible with him. Don't get me wrong, he likes most people. He would need to meet guest on a leash and maybe outside of the home and if he shows he doesn't like them, he would need to be able to be put away.
This dog is incredibly sweet and a good dog. We know the right home is out there for him.
